i think ive seen the video youre talking about and OH its so cute oh my god.

“You’re hair is getting long, Dante.” You run a rand through the curls on top of his head, that are now so grown they are beginning to cover his eyes and ears. “I think we may need to give you a little cut, my sweet.”

He rears back with a whining ‘Noooooooo!’ that makes you laugh. Your child, you’re sweet little Dante shakes his head back and forth, effectively ruffling his hair even more.

While Dante’s fear of water was due to his past trauma as a child, one you still had night terrors of and could never forget. His protest for a haircut was the common child-tantrum.

“No? Why not, hm? You dont want Mama to give you a nice trim? You’ll look so handsome, little one.”

“Noooooooo.” When you reached out for him he leaned back further and further until he flopped onto a heap of pillows. “No haircut!”

You knew eventually you would have to cut his hair. Before tending to it became all too time-consuming for you both. But for now? You bow out.

“At least let me pull it back, alright?” He raised his head with a tentative eye as you untied the ribbon from your wrist, the slip of pink silk made a smile grow on your boy’s face that filled your heart with joy.

“Come here my love.”

You tried not to think about how much longer you had with him like this. When he was still tiny and soft and fit in your lap. How much longer you were able to hide him from those who saw him as a beast. Those who would lock him in a cage our mount your sweet darling’s head on a wall.

“Pretty!”

You blinked away your tears at your son’s excitement as he shook his head to fro. His hair was gathered and gently tied into a little ponytail that sat atop his head like a little puff with the pink tie you had bought from the market last week.

“Yes.” You said softly, voice weak with emotion as you kissed the crown of his head. “My pretty, pretty, darlin Dante.”

“How often must I ask that you just call me Marie?”

The advisor twists his lip. “It is rude to address you so casually.”

She snorts, “Is it not ruder to refuse my request?”

He stands up straighter, they have this argument at least once a day. 

Sighing he picks up where he left off, “Your Majesty,” he gives her a look, not that she was going to say anything this time, “it has come to my attention that you have a conflict of scheduling this afternoon.”
